As seen on Joystiq
June 7th, 2008 by Travis
Welcome back to Tighten Up The Graphics! In their infinite wisdom, Joystiq included us on their Weekly Webcomic Wrapup. Somewhere out there on the interwebs, Carson is giggling like a schoolgirl that people are seeing his artwork. There’s this thing about artists… they um… like attention. So this obviously makes his day. I’m mildly amused, but I’ll wait until we win one of these things to break out the champaign. Until that day, we’re going to try to keep on sucking.

Click this link ( http://www.fullyramblomatic.com/ ) and scroll down to:
23/3/08: You Cad.
Read the entire article and note that your comic is as ugly and unfunny as Ctrl-Alt-Delete. You guys are only on your third comic though, so I’ve decided to nip this bullshit in the bud here and now:
follow comic and humor conventions the fuck now or become the punchline of the internet gaming community.

Do you see that? Three panels of the same character doing the same thing, and no panel uses the same mouth twice.
In the first comic, Carson has the exact same mouth in the first and last panels. In the third comic, the internet nerd character has the exact same fucking drawing in the second and fourth frames. There is absolutely NO excuse for this, especially because you didn’t even draw the background; you blurred out a photo (another disappointing aspect of CAD comics). Normally, I wouldn’t scrutinize this type of thing, but in addition to the fact that the character in question is missing the shirt logo and chain he had in the second comic, this shows an increasing amount of apathy in your art.
Stop trying so hard to be funny, because that works against you. Trim the dialog down as often as possible. It is what the pros do, and it is what you should mimic.
Stop half-assing your fucking art. Draw every object in every frame. I’m not saying not to cut corners every now and then; I’m just warning you not to make the same mistakes CAD did just because some blog was on your jock once.
Then again, as similar as this comic is to CAD, you guys probably love that shit.

Wow, how very helpful, yes123!
I was going to feed your trolling and come up with a witty retort to your insipid and useless commentary (seriously, have you seen Yahtzee’s website? It’s like a blind alcoholic was given MySpace templates to create it, and you’re using a guy who can’t even leave a permalink for his articles as a basis for your thesis?), but I instead I figured I’d just point one thing out:
The joke’s on you.
If you’d bother to read the rider, you’d note that we set out to suck. We’re obviously just not sucking hard enough. We’ll endeavor to be so awful you never come back.
God willing.

I think yes123 can start critiquing other peoples web comics so harshly when he makes one of his own. First off, They have said they are working game designers. I know what the game industry is like, I think its a fucking miracle they got any comics done at all. Second, if you don’t like the humor or the art, don’t fucking read it. I honestly don’t think the future of this comic is hinging solely on your approval. If you think it is, congratulations!!!!, you have won the internet!
So I say put your art and writing where your mouth is and start your own web comic if you think the ones out already are shite. If it’s funny, then I will start reading it.
